Presentation of Guidance for Protection and Improvement of Mental Health of Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants in Republic of Serbia
On 18 December 2018 the Red Cross of Serbia participated in the presentation of “Guidance for Protection and Improvement of Mental Health of Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Migrants in Republic of Serbia” organised by the World health Organisation office in Serbia as part of the European Union Programme of Support to Managing Migrations in the Republic of Serbia. The document was presented by Dr Vesna Knjeginjic, Assistant Minister, Ministry of Health and Dr Svetlana Velimirovic, Deputy Commissioner for Refugees and the author, Dr Perisa Simonovic.
The Guidance is an extension and operationalisation of the needs for adaption of the existing healthcare system including support and services, to the new circumstances and challenges. The goal of the Guidance is to create systematic recommendations related to
1. Organising healthcare services and promoting health 2. Measures and activities to be implemented and 3. Necessary resources to include participants in the planned processes and deciding which of the participants will be included in which way and to what extent.
